Default Anything to dampen the pain??

Well I just got done patterning my 870 and man does my shoulder hurt. Is there anything you can add to your shotgun to make the recoil a little more tolerable. Do the simms pads work at all, how much do they cost? Any other suggestions are appreciated. Man does my arm hurt right now

They work pretty good...... Also, you could add weight to the stock, but that will make it heavier to carry around too.

SVL recoil pads do work theyh will run about 30 bucks for the 870 and they are super easy to put on ... one thing though the hard parts done patterning isnt an everyday occurance and when that gobbler is in front of you I promise you wont feal a thing except excitment ... but I would definately recomend a recoil pad.

I use a "sissy pad" of folded up carpet padding when I'm doing a long patterning session. Call me a Pennsylvania wussie" if you like. 8 lb. 10 gauges and 3 1/2" 12 gauges kick like ******** (fill in your own expletive)!!!!!!!!! I'll be a "wussie" without a black & blue shoulder, thank you.

Call it what you want but I get some extra padding for sighting in from using an old down vest I have to save my shoulder for turkey hunting. Does the job. You can call it being a wuss or whatever you want but it beats using bengay later. I'll suck it up fine when I'm hunting. Besides, I don't ever seem to notice it in the heat of battle.

Bring your friends alone and have them shoot it!

The Strut10 Pad, aka "Wussie Pad", works if you can't talk your buddies into it.

The Sims pad does indeed work as advertised. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

I put an R3 recoil pad on my 870 this year, makes a LOT of difference! I could tell the difference after the first shot!

12 or 13 times??? Many springs, I'll throw away a 5 gallon bucket of empties!! I'd almost wager, too, that if you ran 12 or 13 rounds through my BPS 10 ga. off the bench (with or without a sissy pad!!) you would think you'd had a pretty long day of it.

Switch to checking densities with 7 shot low brass at 30 yards, switch to the round you want to use, shot once, maybe twice at 40 yards. I'm hoping I'll get that bird closer than that. LOL
