    Default Alabama

Was washed out by the wind, rain, and cold. I am going to head back and try it...did not get to hunt because of weather. Locals say that birds are not hot yet and doing their thing...Anyone have any info about current AL season...I did not see much sign and really do not know if worth making the drive again....do birds in AL tend to move into or out of areas in the spring...the folks said they seen three longbears this pass fall on the farm (about 400 ac). About a 6 hour drive and a little expense...I love to hunt turkeys but you got to have them in order to hunt them...any and all information would be great! I know people do not know each other on this forum but I would love to find someone with a good place to turkey hunt in AL wanting to help an out of state person with a place to hunt...

This cold, windy, and rainy weather appears to have shut the gobblers down. This past Wednesday and Thursday the gobblers gobbled their brains out on roost and pretty good after flydown. Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday...nothing. Did not hear a single gobble. I saw turkeys just no gobbling. A relative of mine killed one yesterday and said that he didn't hear a single gobble all day either. The one he killed was with 7 hens and another gobbler. According to my records, here in NE Alabama, we have our best success during the last week in March and the first week in April. Of course this varies from year to year but usually that's a good time to hunt here.
