I'd say if you hunt in a location that has geese on a regular basis...then yes...a goose call would work great. One thing to keep in mind...with a locater call...ie: goose, crow, owl...etc...these are realitively loud calls...keep it short and sweet. If you make a long locate call...the bird may gobble during and you may never hear him. Good luck!

BTW...welcome to realtree strikemaster!

You bet they work! and like snapper said make it short and sweet. 2 or 3 honks are plenty.

Nothing works all the time, so different options are important. I carry duck, goose, pheasant, owl and crow calls to locate with. Trying at all times to match the commotion, or create it with one or the other and let mother natures critters do the rest of the locating for me!

Sure it'll work!! At least as well as any other locator, if geese are common in the area you're hunting. Maybe would work even a little better than the owl or crow that everyone else is using.........being different than the competition can help.

I filmed a pair of gobblers several years ago on the edge of a beaver pond. They would get into cussing matches with the geese!! It was very entertaining.

Has anybody had any luck with a hawk call? I was hunting the other day and a hawk flew over and started screaming and ever bird in the county cut loose.

A short clucker will work. Try different brands and see what works easiest for you. Mine is a Haydels.

A goose call works well sometimes as will a duck call. I had gobblers shock gobble back to the chime of my truck door being open when I went to move a turtle out of the road.

Two words for you:
Air Horn.
Works pretty well and other hunters know you are entering the woods!

Just joking, (it would probably work, though!?)

I think the goose call and the pheasant call are good locator calls, I have had luck with both.

Good Luck!
