yeah. get in between the ridge and bottom. its been my experience that they like to go to a feeding spot shortly after flydown(at least the hens do which will bring gobblers)
also... when one comes back and goes away and comes back... wait until he goes away on the second time (or once you figure out that that is what hes doing) and sneek very carefully/quietly to where he came closest to and set up and call... when he comes back that third time you should be in position for a shot. just a tip to try. its worked for me and my dad a few times... just be careful ya dont spook him.
good luck and let us know how you do
i would still try and find a place in the bottom or near the bottom and call very little very softly. This is the area they obviously want to be and you should be there first.
Very early well before daylight.

There should be an open spot that the turkey's are headed for they usually dont like really thick undergrowth much.
I would go with mrwiggely suggestion, be there waiting where they want to go, good luck.
<font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Wigs is absolutely right. You have to think of each hunt as an opportunity to learn where the birds want to go. That's part of your in season scouting for turkeys. Next time out, you want to be where they were going toward before they even wake up on the roost. Don't even think about calling until they fly down. In the scenario you described, I'd set up about 100 yards from the roost where the gobbler wanted to go into the bottom. If that puts you in the bottom, so be it. Just be where they wanted to go very very early so they don't know you are there. LOLOriginally posted by mrwiggely:
