    Default long beard blues

So this morning i headed up to my sister property. I had already planned my hunt so I started up the hill to call and find out where the big boys were.Ten feet off the trail as i was ging up the hill i walked under three birds roosting. They fly off and i keep going up the hill. I finally get up there call and here one bird gobble on the other hill on the other side of the property. That was the only one i heard this morning. So i fianlly decided to go for him. I had to come of the hill and walk up another that was straight up. Need i remind you this is eastern kentucky where the hill go on for days. Finally reach the top took a drink of water and called. The gobble was right there almost. I sat up real quick and waited. Got him in to 40 yards and was ready to shoot. He steps out from behind the tree sees me and truns to run. I shot and hit nothing but tree. And to make things worse after a few mintues i seen three does walk by and they just looked at me and kept walking. I figure they would be nowwhere around after a gun shot. I was like they were mocking me saying" Yeah come on shoot me loser." And that is why i have the long beard blues.

Don't give up! They forget about those loud bangs quicker than you'd think. Congrats for gettin' close 'nuff to throw some pellets at 'em.

If you ain't missed a turkey, den you ain't been huntin' 'em long.
