They sure aren't gobbling much, and I saw a hen mosying around eating from 9:30-11am. I would think that if they were nesting she would have gone off somewhere to do that. Anybody have any info here?

I've been seeing several hens alone, or with other hens. Not much gobbling here either. What's the deal?!![]()
I've also seen some hens alone mid-morning and the toms seem to be gobbling quite a bit on the roost but when they pitch down they go hushmouth...dont know why that is?
gobblin there heads off all day long around the kansas line.
Hadnt been hearing any gobbles around here since the second week of the season.
I havent heard a single gobble and ive been out a couple of times. I dont know why they are acting like they are. I called up two Hens thursday.. Its been a really bad season.
These birds here are gobbling strong on the roost and on the ground.
I think it's just alittle to early yet. I think the hens have been building there nest and I would bet some are laying right now. There just not in to it full swing yet... Give it time...I figure here in another week or two the old toms will start getting lonely and alot more active...
I'm in NY and I jumped a hen off a nest by accident last weekend while out riding the quad. I stopped the quad when I saw her and she was sitting down, frightened, but not frightened. She dropped another egg and stood up and cautiously walked away.. When she was out of my site, I stood up on the quad and peeked over and saw the nest.
same here in illinois gobbling good on the roost and as soon as they hit the ground its all over they quit gobbling about 7 am......worst season yet for me...my seasons over with no bird but i did miss a gobbler at 41 yards.....last day tomorrow n i cant go....pretty bumbed after the past two seasons takin home a gobbler and havin them gobble all day long to barely at all....no good
