I'm so nervous, excited, and worried all at the same time! In the morning i'll be taking my little sister on her first turkey hunt. She's just now started showing interest in hunting b/c she's so wrapped up in cheerleading, gymnastics, softball, church, and anything else that passes. She's 8 years old and adores her big brothers, me being the oldest. My dad put 2 birds to bed this evening on the edge of a corn field a few miles from my front door, both gobbled about 50 times before they closed their eyes for the night. I'll be picking her up in the morning from my dad house and coming back this way to setup the Doghouse blind on the field edge in the pitch dark. I'll be attempting to tag one of the birds with a bow b/c she hasnt gotten into shooting much yet and that's my goal for the season remaining.
This whole senerio came about when my dad and her saw the birds strutting in the field this afternoon and my dad was going back after the birds, when she ask to go. She had some type of activity this evening but they're on spring break from school and i'm going so she'll be able to share the blind w/ big brother. I dont think i've been more excited/nervous in my life, i really want her to enjoy the outdoors as much as i do. Everythings in the clear so far now, only big worry is the weather.
Look at me rambling, sorry guys. . . i've turned a quick post into a 10 minute ordeal. Anyways yall can probably tell how pumped i am, its midnight and i've gotta try to get some shut eye. Think about us, hopefully the bad weather will blow out, i dont think Joy Leigh's too fond of thunderstorms.![]()
