Default Hunting near a nesting hen?

I found a hen's nest (10 eggs) while hunting last weekend. The hen jumped up as I was walking a near by log road. My question is this, should I try setting up and calling near that nesting area or should I keep my distance, so that the hen will not be spooked? Someone told me that a gobbler will sometimes stay near a nesting area to either re-breed that hen or to try to break those eggs so he can then re-breed the hen. Has anyone ever heard anything about that? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would keep my distance. Not to far but not to close, you don't wont to spook her off the nest and leave the nest unpertected to many predetors could get them.

Steer clear of it IMO. It's not worth the risk of having the hen abandon a whole clutch of eggs. If you're a couple hundred yards away and he's around, he'll hear you. I wouldn't keep bumping that hen though. Good luck.

Generally the hens leave the toms to go lay and sit on their nest. You'd have a better chance by finding the tom's strut zone than setting up near her nest.

    I'd steer clear.

I found a nest today also...it had 17 eggs in it...and I realized that the gobblers I set up on on the morning were roosted only about 200 yards from it. The wierdest part is that the nest was no more than 10 feet from the road. I got within a foot of the hen before she flew off....when i came back a couple hours later I flushed her again. Do you guys think that the gobblers with roost near the nest again and will that hen be back?
