Default Roam range of a turkey?

Just curious to how far a birds home territory is.
How much do they roam or do they stay in a certain area?
I ask because I had birds going nuts right behind my house last week and the very next day nothing. 2 weeks later still nothing.
I've driven around the immediate area and nothing...

I feel they have moved on or are on the other side of the mountian, etc.. and I just am not hearing them if they hear me or they are just not there anymore.
I know they can get quiet and be there.
Believe me I know this threw experience, however I would think that I would see or hear something in 2 weeks time..
I have thrown just about every call I have at them and no go...
Soft to loud, Box call to slate calls to different strikers on the slate calls to several different mouth calls.
    Nothing...

Man, birds don't even know where they are going next, so it's hard to tell how far a "home range" is for a turkey lol.

I will say this though, there have been days where we would see a huge flock of birds in my buddy's front yard at fly down in the morning, only to watch the same group of birds go to roost about 2 miles away from his house that same evening.

For the record, you're not alone with your gobbling troubles bud....

Opening day here had 3 gobble on roost, flew down a little after 6 and those were the last gobbles I heard that day. Saw 2 longbeards, 6 hens and 3 jakes, but they never made a peep. Passed on jakes and the longbeards only made it to 80 yards away when the hens showed up.

Following Thursday I was back in the same spot and the birds were going ballistic in all directions; it would be safe to say I heard at least 15 different birds. Called in 5 jakes right off the roost and passed again. That was the morning action. I had to be at work at 9 and when I left the woods at 8:30 they were still screaming all around me.

Two days later on Saturday, 3 gobbled on roost, never heard a peep after they flew down. Saw one hen and one unidentifiable.

Today, went up the valley to where the 3 constant gobblers have been and guess what, NOT A PEEP today period and only saw one hen.

Again bud, you're not alone lol

Birds on our place in southeastern OK routinely roam 1-2 miles a day. These are Easterns in hilly, forested country interspersed with cleared cattle fields and hay meadows.

I think they will stick around as long as there food source is plentiful. I ran into the same situation this year where I have seen over 150 birds. Season started and not a single one except on opening morning I saw six. I have birds behind my house and sometime they will roost right behind my house, not even 60 yards from my deck, other time they will roost about a 1/2 mile back near a corn field. Might be because I pulled my feeders out well before season. ? big ? mark
