turkeys already with poults?

Today was the last day of turkey season here. I ended up not shootin a bird, for the 3rd out of 4 years huntin. Oh well. When we were leaving, we were driving down a gravel road, and we saw a hen up a little in front of us, next to the road. We pulled up and my dad came to a stop right next to it, She wasn't in any hurry to get away, and as the hen was walkin away from the road, I saw at least 3 poults with her. Isn't this just a little early to be havin em? And could that help explain why none of the toms have been interested in calls.

YEs I think it is normal considering the warm weather we had 3 weeks before season. I had lots of toms gobbling behind my house two weeks before the season started. I have not seen any poults but have found some feather from them.
