    Default Locator calls

Which locator call works the best? I have a owl, crow, and coyote howler. Never much succes with coyote howler but the owl and crow works good.

I use an owl call in the early morning and then switch over to my crow call once the crows have been active for a while. I picked up the new Primos crow call this year and it did a great job for me.

I agree with N2H. I use an owl early in the morning or late at night when roosting them. Then I use a crow call during the day. I don't like a coyote/predator calls. Yes, it will get birds to gobble, but since it is a natural predator to them, they likely won't come in.

There are so many crows where I hunt in southeastern Oklahoma that the gobblers pretty much ignore them. Cow mooing seems to work much better, especially if it's made by real cows and not yours truly. They gobble some at barred owl hooting and peacock calls, but I'd say the second best locator after mooing is truck noise on a nearby dirt road.

    It's been a difficult spring.

Maybe I should start hunting around my uncle's cow pen next year.

This year they didnt want to shock gobble that much. In the morning they would gobble at the owls, but not at the crows in the day. They did go crazy over the geese though. We had one bird that wouldnt respond to any calls we made but would gobble when a couple geese flew over.

I have never ever gotten a shock gobble off my crow call but I have had huge success with my owl hooter ... got a couple of responses off the pileted woodpecker call but other then that the owl works the best.
