Well after spooking a turkey when walking across a field last night, not sure if hen or not, I went out this morning ,set up below a ridge where I thought the turkey might have roosted. Sat until about 6:30am, moved towards a field incase the turkey was out in it, and I spook it out of its roost, talk about a late rooster! Well I moved through different spots, spending an hour at each, with no luck. Thus, today marks probably the last time I'll be out this year. That makes 3 long, sad years without a turkey and it is really frustrating to see other people have luck and nothing year. All I know is I'm not watching turkey hunting on TV for awhile, just makes me sick. I guess I'll just have to wait until fall and duke it out again with the turkeys. I did see a tree that had 7 fat grey squirrels in it, never saw so many in one spot, too bad I have to wait until September 1.My mom loves wild turkey and I would just love to get another one, for her. Well there were some good moments despite no luck with the turkeys...seeing god's wonderful creation and being amazed at the detail in it, seeing some bucks in velvet one evening running around and playing in a swamp, having a Common Yellowthroat Warbler about 3 feet from me singing, pretty cool. Congrats to all of you who filled a tag or tags and to those of you who didn't have any luck, join my club and keep your head up for the fall and next spring
