    Default New Mexico help

Hey guys I need some help if anyone is willing. I’m trying to line up a hunt in NM this spring and could use some info on a couple of good public areas. I don’t want to impose on anyone and their hunting area, but there is so much land out there and I’m not that familiar with NM (turkey wise). If someone could send me a PM on a good place to start looking I would appreciate it.
If things work out I’m going to try a poor man’s Grand Slam (all public land).
    Thanks for any info.

Kit Carson National Forest is right beside Vermejo Park Ranch which is slam packed with birds. I've also hunted Gila National Forest but if I went back it would be Kit Carson, the part that adjoins Vermejo Park Ranch, near Raton NM.

But if you can spare to give Ted Turner 2 grand, go and book a hunt with the ranch. You'd never regret it. Plenty of history and great fishing also on that ranch.

I've never hunted Kit Carson NF, but I used to spend a lot of time fishing, hiking, and camping in the sections north of Eagles Nest (around the Pecos river and Red river areas) as well as the area due south of Taos and I saw a lot of turkeys there... I don't know which areas are open to hunting.... Im jealous..
