    Default Turkey Choke

I recently started turkey hunting and used a buddy's choke. Now I want one for myself and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. I shoot a Rem 870 Express Super Mag. I was looking at buy a Comp-n-Choke, but don't really know what i am looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanx

I shoot a HS Strut Undertaker on my 870 express and I love it. I have also had a Patternmaster on my BPS 12g, it did excellent as well.

I shoot a gobbling thunder in my 870 and nothing on the market can beat it!! I've tried a few more but after 30 yards you may as well pack up and go home. But the gobbling thunder will reach out there and touch him. My brother in law has one in his 870 and shot a turkey last year at a confirmed 75 yards with a 12ga. 870 with custom hand loaded shells. Not many chokes tubes can do that. I also think if you buy it directly from them, If you don't like it you can return it.

I use a Comp-n-Choke in my 835and my father uses a Undertaker in his 870. They shoot almost the same pattern at 40 yds. Give or take 10 - 20 pellets.

The Comp-n-Choke and Kick's "Gobbling Thunder" chokes are both made by the very same guy, Charlie Boswell. Either one will work very well when shooing lead shot, but I don't believe that they can be shot with shells using Hevishot?

What shot size do you intend to shoot?? In the C-N-C line of chokes, #5's and #6's should be shot through a XXX-Full tube. #4's through a XX-Full. You cannot go wrong with a Comp-N-Choke tube so long as you match the constriction to your shot size and then try a few different shells with it.

It all factors in. Shorter barrels and finer shot respond to more constriction well. Longer barrels and coarser shot do not need quite as tight of a choke. The Boswells know their business. Of that I am sure.

[/ QUOTE ]I shoot 3 1/2 inch shells with a 1/4 ounce more lead than he does in his 3" shells. Not a fair test never the less I was impressed with his $20 choke tube.

Out of the four chokes I have tried, the Undertaker was by far the best! [ In my 870 ]
