To be perfectly honest, my favorite decoy is non at all.

It's a very rare occasion when I use them. Matter of fact it's been 4 years since I have and then it was only once that season if I recall correctly. I'm old school but when they 1st came out with decoys I used them for a few years. I've actually had better luck with birds working into range without them than with them. It's just one less cumbersome thing to fool with to me and not necessary to kill turkeys where I hunt.

We use some cheap foam Flambeau dekes.. They've worked very well over the years.

I'll second Rhino's preference for "none".

I try to pick a setup where, by the time I can see ol' tom clearly, he's within range. Don't always achieve it, but that's my goal anyway. In those cases, I don't think you really need a deke.

All of the above said, last year's bird was a field strutter. He finally came in to a combo of calling (purrs, clucking, a little yelping, even a lost yelp at one point when another hunter shot nearby) made on various calls (diaphragm, box, and slate) combined with having a pair of hen and jake decoys out at about 20-25 yards (Sceery dekes if memory serves). This spring I picked up a decent looking Redhead hen decoy at Bass Pro since the Sceerys were borrowed and I thought I ought to have at least one just in case.

So I guess I'll refine my answer: I prefer not using decoys, but I'm a pragmatist above all else.
