I got up early this morning and went to observe the lone longbeard that flys out into a field which i hunt every morning. When I got there everything was normal. He was out there strutting for the hens and the Jakes. All of a sudden, 6 simultaneous gobbles erupt from just inside the woods line. I thought ok here come the rest of the jakes. I see 6 birds come out of the tree line. I look through my binos and to my astonishment, they were all longbeards!!! I couldnt believe it. I had never seen them there before. It has always been that one longbeard, not 7! They came sprinting out of the woodsline and right to the original longbeard. They started whoopin on this bird something awful. Spurrs were flying everywhere. The 6 longbeards kept strutting for the 30 hens in the field and the lone longbeard kept gobbling. It was neat to see those birds fight like that. The hens started to come towards me and as I looked at them I noticed one had white tipped tail feathers, and also a beard! I dont know why this bird had white tipped feathers. Maybe someone transplanted it here for some reason. Anyways, it was a good morning to be out in the woods.
