Thread: Ever try this?

    Default Ever try this?

I have been hunting the same patch of woods were Im for from (INDIANA) about 10 years now. Its right across the street from government owned land. On that property geese usually flock to the small ponds they have over there and fly in from all directions. A couple of my buddies hunt the same woods that I hunt and had a lot of problems trying to locate birds in the mornings using conventional locator calls i.e hoot owl, crow, etc.... I noticed when the geese where flying low over the woods to get to the water, the turkeys shock gobbled everywhere. I tried using the crow call, and other calls the next season and nothing. I blew the goose call that had and again, the woods came alive. I would like to see if this works for anyone else. Let me know if it works for you, so I know its not just a fluke.. Thanks

I tried it about 6-7 years ago and it worked great! I think if you yelled real loud at dawn, they'd probably gobble!

There's a lot of sounds (natural & un-natural) that'll make gobblers go. Goose call is definitely one of them.

Geese will definitely get the birds to sound off. So will the cranes squawking as they fly over.

I carry a small Tim Grounds half-breed goose call with me. I've had some success with it but never would they only answer the goose call and not others. I take it just in case, was also thinking of taking a small air horn with me and trying that.

I've also have taken a whistle with the ball removed and got them to gobble at that. Like it was said they gobble at a lot of things they shouldn't. Boom - gooobble
