    Default Grr.....stupid hens

i'd really like some tips to hunt down this gobbler. Hopefully more read my post last night then the number of replies...Anyway Set-up on the logging trail this morning. Didn't hear anything until around 6pm....a turkey flew off and over towards my left towards a ridge...it was behind me...and I hear a gobble that way....then a hen cackles and such and flies down right behind me and I yelp and she yelps and purrs and clucks and there is a gobble from the ridge then that is it. I think there were two hens behind me and one flew down over to him...that ridge being near where it sounded like he was last night. what should I do tonight? Go back to this area and see if they roost here again or go back up on the gravel pit? How do I get close to this bird to bring him in? Get between him and the hen?

In my experience I have had some luck calling the hens into me but the best thing to do is just get where they want to go and call lightly maybe not even at all. It might be tough to do but if you can get where they want to go then you are in for a heck of a morning! Best of Luck!

Well since they were roosted down by the swamp, not sure where they are going yet

If you can solve the puzzle of the henned up gobbler then please let me know. Around here the birds are henned up really bad and will not leave them to come to your calling. Get lucky and call the hens in and hope they bring the gobbler by. Or set up and hope they come strolling past. It is tough hunting.
