    Default Hunting with my son

You might have read Joes version under the "Canterlever Tom" title.
    This is mine.

Last Saturday my oldest son(I have 3) and I were at it again... out chasing birds in NY's Sullivan county.
From a fathers perspective...I could not have been made anymore proud, from a hunting partners perspective, I couldn't have been more happier.

The set up was perfect and my sons masterful calling help create one of the most memorable moments in the field together. Joe was brought up in the outdoors and has shown me how fast he learns and gets better at it too.
Joe was working 2 toms that were coming in from the front of us and we were suprised from behind by a Tom that came in silent but could not resist Joes love calls. He let loose with a gobble and gave himself away not 50 yards behind us. Joe wanted me to take him, he felt he had no shot, and the Tom was liking the Purdy custom slate call. I rolled to my right on my belly and got ready. The Tom walked down the trail I was 5 feet off of. He saw the dekes, relaxed his strut, to get under some brush. That gave me a op to move my gun and get a better sight path with less obstructions. I did. He was 5' away and I let him have it. I was lucky to have hit him at all with the shot not getting a chance to spread. I must have sent a golfball sized pattern at that bird. He went down and we were one happy father and son.
    It was 20lbs, 8 3/4"beard and 3/4" spurs.
I have 2 more youngers sons that I can't wit to do the same thing with!
The Lord has truly blessed me.

Congrats again. That is a great story about you and joe. I would not trade one minute in the outdoors with my father for anything and I am sure Joe feels the same way.
