Thumbs up Shot my super nova for first time

Could not stand it any more, had to go and shoot my new Benelli for the first time today.I have looked at it hanging on the wall for three weeks now and could not stand it anymore, went to wall mart and bought a box of winchester #7 low brass just to get a feel for the gun.At 40 yards and with my jellyhead choke I was makeing a milkjug dance, cant waite to run some heavy shot through this thing and try to pattern it for turkeys. The thing didnt kick bad with low brass shells, hope it stays that way when I shoot the 3.5"magnums in it.

congrats, on your knew gun i have the same thing, but my has the comforttech stock. shoots great with the winchester 3.5 hv 2 oz shells. it has killed quite a few turkeys already. when you find a really good choke let me know. from what i am hearing is the truglo strut stopper extreme works real well. good luck, i just use a x full choke right now.

Have you ever shot 3.5's? The first time I did I was stunned at how much harder they kick than a 3" mag. I had shot 3"ers for years and didn't really feel like they were much worse than 2.5's. The 3.5" is double the kick of a 2.5" in my opinion.

I highly recommend a quality recoil pad. Personally I use a Shooter's Friend pad. It is made of a soft gel that feels like gummy worms. They go for around $18 and work fantastic.

I also saw that Limbsaver came out with one that supposedly reduces felt recoil by up to 66% but I don't know of anyone that owns one.

As i was saying if your gun has the comfortech stock as mine does, the recoil is not bad at all. even with the 3.5's

I opted for the steady grip stock,After getting rid of my ten guage I wanted something with a pistol grip or a thumbhole. As for the 3.5" shells that is what I ran through my ten guage so I should be able to handle it in the 12 guage,I hope.

I don't know what 10 you had but chances are the Nova is lighter in weight. That translates to more abuse. An aftermarket recoil pad will help (Hi-Viz, Limbsaver...).

A mercury tube that goes in the magazine makes a big difference too. If you plan on waterfowling with 3 1/2" loads the merc tube is a "MUST HAVE!" It will definitely help with turkey loads too. Your cheekbone will thank you.
