    Default Bad news

Well I decided to start turkey hunting this year because I have been seeing so many turkeys. I bought a brand new mossburg 535,all new camo, calls and decoys, and lots of ammo to pattern. After a couple months of scouting and excitement I just found out I did not draw a tag for spring gobbler. Last year quota was only over by a little so I thought I was safe. I guess not thats just one more turkey for the coyotes to eat. I have a long wait untill next year since I have no fall season in my part of the state. Good luck to everyone I guess I will get ready for the fishing season.

kinda like putting the cart before the horse, think i would have made sure i was drawn before buying all that, but atleast you have it when you do get drawn, and gives you plenty of time to pratice.

You should get your NY non-resident tag. We have tons of birds and plenty of state land and great opportunities.

That stinks. Know anyone who was drawn that would let you tag along with them on their hunt? ya know, just to at least get the experience. Maybe you could help em by doing the calling for them? Or film it for them

sorry to hear that, wish everyone could hunt them, great time to be in the woods in the spring. Maybe team up with someone and at least go out and be part of someone else's kill. More times its the hunt that you remember and not necessarily the kill but the kill is nice!

    Maybe next year.

Well that sucks! Sorry about the luck bud. You can come out here and shoot a bunch! I think they should be reclassified as a small game animal out here with a daily bag limit, and maybe a season limit or something. Too stinkin' many birds.

That's too bad. I would be looking to hunt another state if I were you. Exploring new country is always fun and you could be looking for sheds while chasing a gobbler.

Just head to Idaho and buy your tag over the counter. We have lots of turkeys! Of course, some of them don't have feathers! LOL!!!

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, lol. At least you are all set for last year but like beagleboy said, why not get a non-resident NY tag....some good hunting all over the state.

I'm thinking if my state required I draw a turkey tag.......I'd move.

Gee Grant...a couple of us are headed "out there" in April. Hope you push a whole mess of 'em up to the Morrowville area (Washington County). Since we each have 2 tags, I'd hate for them to go to waste!!
Good luck thining the flock this year!!!

Hey njbowhunter27...like some others said about other states, come on over to Pa. There are plenty of State Game Lands around, and with a little bit of research, you can take that new gear for some hikes!!
I hope you get many chances to get out...even if it's without a weapon! There really is more to it than pulling the trigger! But I really do agree with Strut10! Like so many others seem to be doing (though for other reasons), move out of NJ!!
