    Default My First Turkey

Well April 20th, the last day of Flordia turkey season I finally got my very first turkey. This is my first year turkey hunting too. When I got to the woods and was getting my gun and everything out of my truck the turkeys were gobbling everywhere. I walked in on the old road and one sounded off about 50 yards to my left so I set up my decoy and had a seat. I made a couple calls and they gobbled back on both sides of me. So I got ready and about 15 mins later I saw his head through the brush. He walked through a little opening and I saw his small beard so I dropped him. Then the one that was to my left sounded off two more times and then shut up. This little guy didn't make a sound coming in. He was only 11lbs w/ 1/2 in spurs and a 5 inch beard. Now I am hooked on Turkey hunting too!! I just hope I can get a bigger one next year!! Sorry the pics aren't that great one was taken by my son who is 5 with his digital camera and the other one was a quick one I took.

Congrats! Nice jake! What's funny is your bird was 11 lbs but with a 5" beard and 1/2" spurs...my jake last year was 15 lbs but had a 4" beard and 1/4" spurs
