Default Few days to go NY!

Things seem to be getting a little better...but it's gonna be agony sitting in classes and missing Thursday and Friday morning! Oh well....

I went out Friday night to the top of the old gravel pit, after check the hot spot corn field...saw a bird in there that went into the woods, manage to get a glimse of a decent beard hanging off that lone bird, all I could see was the back of it's head and neck..I swear it was dark colored and looked more like a hen....the last two years I've seen a bearded hen, but she never had a beard that thick

Spooked a bird down by the gravel pit...all I could see was the back of it running away.

Sat up on the gravel pit, heard one turkey come up the hill to my left and roost then about quarter to 8, gave a few crow calls and heard a gobble down in the woods...he gobbled again a little later then gobbled to my owl call....though I'm not sure if there were 2 different birds or not because the first two gobbles sounded close, the 2nd gobble sounded a little farther away...

Last night went back, spooked a bird I had no idea was in the field again, so I'm staying away from there the rest of the week. Sat up on the gravel pit....nothing last night....guess they were just quiet...I don't think anyone was up there hunting for the youth season.

Tonight trying to decide whether to go back again or over to state land by my boss' place...may do that...I'm trying to get an idea of areas birds are in so I have options to go to

I would just leave them alone until season starts if I was you. No sense in spooking them all over the place a couple days before you can hunt them. Let them get back to their regular patterns and hunt them when they arnt pressured. Otherwise they may get smart and realize not to go in certain areas. Just my .02 cents.

Yeah, that's my plan. Going to check out some different spots and leave the spot near home alone.
