    Default Fellow Vermonsters

How are the birds looking up your way. Last I heard Shawn had a good flock in his back yard then I fell out of touch for a while due to work.

I've seen quite a few good flocks of gobblers with paintbrushes that were dragging the ground.........suck to get a beard frozen to the ground while feeding, lol.

I have not been out to look and see. I have not seen anything out during day light when I am off work from the house.
    To dang cold... LOL
I am hoping all the birds we have seen around my house and other property make it threw the winter.
Not a lot of soft woods by me...

Over Christmas I had a chance to scout the wife's uncle's farm in Enosburgh, and WOW he has some great looking birds, ready for the spring harvest. Maybe if Shawns schedule dictates he and I will bag a couple of nice Tom gobblers this spring.

Shawn, I wouldn't worry about the cold with these birds........I think they're a lot like roaches......a nuclear blast probably wouldn't bother them, lol.

Enosburg, huh? I'm there every wednesday for work and I've never seen a turkey.....quite a few deer though.

You 2 might wanna consider getting in on the turkey contest. It's a lot of fun.

Oh, vermonthunter, you better keep a close eye on Shawn........after he shoots he goes nuts with these birds, lol. He's a lot of fun to watch. We had about 10 birds gobbling around us the first day and he looked like a kid in a candy store. Eyes about the size of saucers.

    And then......?
Well lets just say I took the 2nd shot of the morning on both days. LOL
2 nice Jakes in 2 days, in about 2 full hours of hunting each.
Vtbowhunter can put ya on some birds I tell Ya!

Yeah, I did miss twice, but that's what those birds will do to ya. If those birds would have come down the old logging road like they were supposed to i never would have had to shoot.......someone forgot to tell them the plan, lol.

This year I have to call some in for my father. He just turned 50 and he's never shot a turkey. Guess I finally get to repay him for all that he's taught me and teach him how to turkey hunt.

vermonthunter, if you know Enosburgh Falls then you might know where I'm talking about..it's the Leach Farm, on the Old Boston Road. We have seen a ton of Turkeys, some real nice Toms to, it's just Shawn and I are rookies and this is going to be real interesting to say non the less..
