Default question about a bow kill

a couple of about a month ago i took a shot at a big gobler with my bow, it was a 30 yard shot and i had about a 1foot hole to shoot though. I took the shot made it though the hole and the turkey ran off, i thought i had hit him but when i got down i found my arrow and there was no blood on it no fethers nothing and it looked like someone just layed it on the ground. I asumed i missed from the lack of blood and fethers and my arrow being clean so i went ahead accepted the miss and left for lunch. well i was talking to my brother the other day and he killed a turkey last year with his bow and he said it was the same exact way. has this happened to anyone els.

On all of the birds I've killed with a bow, only four, there was visible sign on the arrow. Feathers will remove much of the blood if there is a pass thru but there will still be some blood as well as feathers. I'd say you missed him clean. At least you got a shot though. Keep trying!

I would say there should have been some sign on the ground as well, some feathers at least.

If the feathers managed to wipe off 100% of any evidence of a hit, the arrow would still smell of a hit.

Did you give it a sniff??
