Seat question?

Now I know a lot of us turkey hunters do a lot of sitting in the spring, now when the old foam seats of old wear out what would be a good replacement that are good to sit on for many hours???

I'm tired of buying those seats that just don't seem to last.

I took the cushion off my turkey vest and started carrying the Lo Boy turkey hunters chair. This is the one that the legs does not fold, very light weight. I would like to have another but I can not find them anywhere.

I use a combination. First a crazy creek chair. Obviously, not in blue like the picture. I bought mine years ago in camo, but I can't find another. But they make them in forest green and other colors. The chair is also nice for quick backpacking overnighters when you want comfort, but also save some weight because you can use it as a short but workable sleeping pad.



Then I added a 2" foam seat to the mix.

I've timed myself, with this set-up, I can sit for 30 minutes with my gun on my knee and not move one muscle except for my eyes. The only problem is that it is so comfortable that I can fall asleep in it. I'm sure I've missed some birds this way. LOL!

Actually around my farm, we don't have a lot of big trees. The back on the chair makes it possible to set up in a clump of brush if needed and be stable and still and comfortable for the shot.

Cabela's sells a similar chair by a different manufacturer. I know one person that has it and loves it. The bottom part is already thick foam so you wouldn't have to add anything.

I've tried many, and the best yet and no one seems to be able to out sit me is with a 18in rubber small utility trailer tube. I made a cloth Max 4 Camo cover with one inside,side lined in leather so that the prickly thingy's will not stick in it. With a quick snap on the tube, it will attach fast to my vest. No weight ! breaks down easy for travel and can be blown up or repaired at any gas station across the USA and Canada.

This puppy filled 3/4ers with air is like sitting on a Lazy boy chair ...

I use this Ol Tom "On the Go" turkey seat. Although I rarely carry any decoys the pouch area comes in handy for storing cloths when I shed them as the day warms up.


It has what Ol Tom calls it's magnaattach magnets built into the seat that works in conjuction with the magnets in the back of the Ol Tom shirts to easily get the seat up on your back and off the back of your legs.

I have been using one of these H.S. Strut seats for quite a few years now. I have also added a thermal seat cushion to the surface which keeps your bottom warmer on those cooler mornings. Here is a pic of that seat.

Have one also,,great seat, makes it so easy to sit for hours..easy to carry, light weight..i don't turkey hunt with out mine....

I too use the inner tube for sitting,mine is covered with saddle cloth and has strap for slinging over back.sit for hours in the thing.larry

I must have out grown mine,the legs spred out and went flat from to much weight.Whatever happened to useing the cushion that comes on your vest,it is allready thear and is one less thing to worry about loseing.

Quit complaining and call me a bird in. Spike King is my son. I too have a seat like the Hunter specialities and also carry a hot seat type and keep the seat on my vest. I use all three. It get me far enough off the ground that my legs don't go to sleep.

Problem is my tailbone gets sore when using the seat that comes with my vest!! I'm good for the first two days of sitting, then I can't even stand the thought of sitting anymore!!! With this seat set-up I now use, I can hunt the entire season without discomfort. Been there done that, hence the switch.

Yep, right there is the same problem I think all of us have and I'm included. I turkey hunt very hard and can sit for many days through the season. I have been taking more and more time off in the spring and as the season goes on and I'm getting older I just can't take my tailbone hurting like that anymore. Thanks for the responces so far.
