I saw something weird (at least I thought so)

I went home from school over the weekend and was driving the country roads Friday before dark checking out the wildlife and I saw a group of 40 or so turkeys. Ok no big deal. But, 3 of the gobblers were strutting and another was chasing a hen around and the hens were talking up a storm. Needless to say I was a little shocked to see this in late January with snow on the ground. I watched them for probably 10 minutes, but didn't have the camera.

Has anybody else seen this type of behavior yet?

Yea they are just playing around I believe! But most what is weird is! Most gobblers are running aorund with out the hens this time of the year! That does sound bit odd!

Not sure about ILL turks, but they are breeding here in Georgia. Many don't believe it but they are. The DNR sets the hunting season after the majority of hens are breed.

I was out shooting my bow last weekend and decided to do a little practicing on the turkey call. I was doing some excited yelping and I got some turkeys to gobble. Couldn't tell how many, did have a hen respond as well. Maybe should have got a little more serious about talking to them but I was getting ready for a 3d shoot. Pretty cool for the last weekend in January.
