Got home Monday evening to find this beauty had arrived in the mail! It is a Moss Double Tone box call made by Tom Moss from Sadalia, MO.
As some of you know, Tom is a new member to the Realtree Forums & started a post regarding giving away a new box call. Apparently that is against the rules, because that post got a little abuse. Anyhow, with me not knowing that it was against the rules for a newbie to come right in & start advertising I took up for 'ole Tom in his post. After getting his hand smaked, Tom nixed the give away & said he would send me the call for free as a good will gesture for taking up for him.
Here is where I think this seperates the good from the bad, and let me say I too was curious as to how this would play out.
Tom didn't know any of us or us him. He could have just taken his ball and gone home, but he didn't. I recieved an email last Friday saying the call was in the mail & as stated above it arrived Monday. That tells me that Tom, for one thing, is a man of his word. It also suggest to me that he would like to become an active member of this forum & if he happens to sell a few calls to some of us then great. I know we have some very talented call makers on this forum that make beautiful works of art. I also know that many of us have purchased calls from these guys/gals after meeting them on this forum.
Let me get off the soap box....
I just wanted to let any of you know that was involved in the above mention post by Tom that he did send the call. I also want to apologize to all of you for first; me not knowing the rules, and second for offending any of you if I did.
As for as the call...The picture does not do it justice. It is a beautiful box that sounds better than it looks. As you can see in the picture there is a second blade inside that box that absolutely creates an awesome rollover at the end of the yelp. This box, as with most can really crank up the volume for some long distance if you need it. It also can produce some of the sweetest purrs & clucks for those last few steps.
I really hope there have been no hard feelings. I also hope that Tom will continue to post & reply here so that we can get to know him & him us.
Thanks,
Steve
