The only turkey sign that I have found at our place so far is some tracks. I was out hog hunting last weekend, but heard no gobbles. Will be out again this weekend after the hogs, sure would like to start hear the toms gobbling again![]()

Yeah, i'm from ms too and have heard folks talking about the turkeys gobbling already. I'm gonna give em another two weeks before i start getting up early to listen. It gets daylight too late right now.

I agree . Im about to go nuts!!!! GA season starts on March26,I dont want to here one until about a week before.
i havent heard a wild bird yet, but my friends turkeys are going off.....they are hot hot hot![]()
yep--i agree with ryan. i never call to the birds until season starts. the last thing i want to do is educate them to my calling. if you want to hear some gobbling i would just use a locator call like an owl or crow calls. just my thoughts!

I agree with Ryan. It might not be breeding seaosn yet, but if you go out there and call, they might come in and bust you with their keen eye sight. Or they might come in and your already gone. They will see no hen their and remember that sequence of calling and not come in when the moment of truth is around.
Also remember it might be Illegal in your state to call weeks or months prior to the season. So check your laws.
Toms will do some gobbling year round. Much more in the spring obviously, but you could hear a gobble at any time of the year. I heard a gobble or two (or more) almost every time I deer hunted last season.
I went out before daylight to listen this morning. In one word "UNBELIEVABLE"!!!! It's been years since I heard that many birds gobbling. Nobody would believe me if I said how many so I'll just say the number of gobblers I heard went into double figures before I left the 1st place I listened from. The last bird I heard was at 7:35 about 2 miles from where I started. NOW I"M FIRED UP!!!!!
BTW, if anybody was wondering if I carried a turkey call or even a shock call with me, the answer is NO . I never carry a call with me until it's time to start hunting them. All these birds gobbled at live hens, owls, crows, or just on their own.
more listening....less talking to 'em...for now
