Osceola Turkeys

I am getting ready to go down and hunt turkeys in Florida. I will be hunting in the north central region but i was wondering if anyone knew where Osceola turkeys were found in FLorida. Are they throughout the state or farther south. I was just wonderiong because i didn't know if i was going to be hunting easterns or osceola.

I shot 2 around the Gainseville area last year. I believe I was pretty close to their northern boundary. good luck!!

i have always been told there is an imaginary liine that runs through Gainsville, the osecolas are south of it....not saying that Gainsville doesnt have em....whiskeyswamp obviously got 2 there i would say hybrids are what youd see more of....i hunt the orlando area, well just outside of orlando, there aint no arguing that these birds are osceolas....good luck

I've been told those north of Orlando are hybrids, the southern birds are the Osceola's. NWTF's website should have an definition for you.

Get on down south for a true black wing!! But if your just after a turkey, hammer'em where ever you're headed.

Thanks everyone. I can't wait until i go. I am soo excited. I wish i was hunting osceolas but easterns are fine i just wanted to hunt something NEW!If my buddies that are going weren't so tight with money i would go farther south for the osceolas.
