    Default Last Day

Well, today is the last day to hunt rabbit and grouse in Ohio, and summarily closes all the common game type animals. You can still hunt crow, woodchucks and coyote, but everything else is closed now.

    Here's to turkey season!

Today was the last day to hunt squirrel in NY. I still have rabbits, crows and coyotes. Woodchucks aren't awake yet here atleast. We don't have a season on them. Its all year round, no bag limit on them. I can't wait until April 23rd and 24th... NY Youth Turkey Hunts. I got a diaphragm call and an itchy trigger finger... I got gobbler fever.

Ever try shooting pidgeons? If you can locate an area that has enough of them they are alot of fun, good wingshooting practice, and taste amazing. I have a couple of large duck farms nearby that attract them due to the large amounts of duck feed. No season and no limits.

I don't know how Ohio treats "Rock Doves"--pigeons. I don't think you can hunt them, but I could be wrong. I do shoot the odd blackbird or starling that hang out around the house and garden. The blackbirds eat my corn seedlings, and break off the sweet corn tassles too--so they're vermin to me. Starlings are a step below trash in my book. They like to nest in any cavity they can find, and if they can't find one, they'll make one then create a ton of poop and noise. I once had 4 of them in my basement when they flew down my furnace flue. In the words of Yosemite Sam "I hates starlings."

I believe you can shoot starlings all year here also.
We have alot of pidgeons around here, but they hang around town mostly. Not a great place to shoot LOL.
