how they go about doing it? i really hope they weren't shooting them on the fly, that just seems like an accident waiting to happen
I've seen them hunting pheasants on t.v. with recurves and flu-flu arrows. It looks like all instinctive shooting.Heck,I miss enough of em' with a shotgun.
If you want to see something amazing then go to Cabela's and buy the VHS tape called "Lethal Flight" with Tim Wells. He shoots just about everything that moves and at the end of the tape he is shooting clay pigeons with his bow that someone is throwing from a pigeon thrower. He also hunts for grouse and pheasants in the video. There are some amazing hunts on there.
That's just crazy...
I've seen that on TV before too. There is NO way I ever take a bow on a pheasant hunt. I've got a hard enough time trying to kill one with my Mossberg (which by the way has never happened because pheasants are as common as 3 legged turkey's around here).![]()

Nope. I have trouble enough with a shotgun.
I've seen flu flu arrows being used for pheasant on TV.
Fred Bear used to shoot birds on the wing before, it can be done, not by me though LOL !!!

Ditto, that said one property i hunt is bordered by a game farm...I've shot prob 7 sitting in my deer stand. pretty easy target walking through the woods.
I almost got one with my bow. I tried stalking within range of one I saw standing in some corn stubble, but I missed.
Tred barta hunts them with his long bow. Its gotta be terribly hard though.
Yeah I've seen that on tv but never tried it. Sounds like fun though.
I have known people to bowhunt ruffed grouse, but those people use either practice points or blunt points on their bows, and they only use cossbows.
I hunt ruffed grouse with my compound and judo points. I doe really well, but these are all standing birds. I have seen a guy shooting flying pheasants with a recurve on tv. He was saying that allows you to shoot faster whiel the bird is close and not at full speed. Even then he was missing most shots. Looked fun though.
