I have three beagle hounds, pure breed but non-registered. I also have two pups a female named Lucy, and a male named Cledus.... Sometimes my passion of rabbit hunting overcomes all other game I hunt.

don't know about avid, but i enjoy hunting them after deer season, especially when there's snow on the ground. them boogers really show themselves against all that white.![]()
I GO A FEW TIMES A YEAR.JUST NOT AS MANY BUNNIES AROUND HERE LIKE THERE USED TO BE.I HAVE A BEAGLE TOO.I TAKE HIM OUT A FEW TIMES AND IT AMAZES ME THE WAY HE RUNS RABBITS.NEVER HAD TO DO ANY TRAINING,HE JUST KNOWS WHAT TO DO.
Good luck this yearWe used have lots of snowshoes here but it has been down for alot of years, I think because of so many yotes and other critters.
I surely love hunting and eating them though !! My uncle always had beagles and it was a riot hunting with them
Let us know how your bunny season turns out .

Back in the '60's and early '70's; I use to be an avid Rabbit Hunter, and had great success. However, it seem that the Rabbit population is not what it use to be, and it is very hard to find a good Rabbit hunting spot here in Indiana.![]()
DuckDog..... in some places we do. In the location I hunt I have never seen a Yote in the area. Our location we will pull about 10 rabbits or more out of this single area.

IT'S THE COYOTES COMING BACK, IS WHAT THE REASON FOR THE DECLINE OF RABBITS IN IOWA. I DONT KNOW IF YOU GOT ALOT OF YOTES IN INDIANA OR NOT?

I think it's the foxes in the part of Indiana. You see a rabbit hole, theres fox tracks all around it. Same with rabbit tracks in the winter.
i dont do much because there is not many around here, i have shot 3 in my life, one with the .22, one with the mossberg bolt 20ga and one with the Remington 1100 20ga.

We have some Coyotes here in Indiana, but I think the way farming is today along with land-use policies, and urban spraw with free roaming dogs and cats, is the biggest problem.
I go 4-5 times a winter. Not avid, but it is alot of fun. My buddy is a rabbit fanatic. He goes all the time, and has a great beagle.
