    Default Mixed Bag-O-Game

my wife took the kids shopping yesterday, so i got to sit and walk out back with no guilt complex.

i sat for doves first, and got 5. midway through the dove hunt i caught movement on my right. it was a squirrel sneaking around my house. i don't like squirrel, but i have a buddy at work that does, so i added him to the game bag. (that was pretty unusual, as my property doesn't have a whole lot of trees. i guess he was rummaging around for some food)

later i decided to take a walk and try my luck for a bunny. the winter storm we got last wednesday and thursday socked our area with 1/2" of ice, so sneaking up on bunnies has been difficult lately. i struck out on bunnies, but managed to flush 7 pheasants. unfortunately, i didn't get any shots as all the birds flushed well out of range. they're pretty wary this time of year.

i sat and walked outside for over 4 hours in 20 degree temps, froze my hands and face off, and had a blast.

Sounds like a great four hours to me. Glad you had fun. I have never ate a dove. How are they? they are illegal here to shoot.

Sounds like a blast. I've been out the last two days. I've seen 2 squirrels and threw some lead at a handful of RPG's (aka grouse), no bunnies. Good to be out there though.

All dark meat Jim. They're not bad. Personally I don't like them, but my kids do. Which is a good thing because I love hunting them.

BTW--those rabbits gave me a case of poison ivy right between my fingers on both hands, and a little patch under my left eye. I distinctly remember picking both rabbits up by the legs in between my fingers. It's the only thing I can think of why I got another case of poison ivy where I did.
