    Default Hey Bird Brains

Wondering how everyone has been doing on the long tails(pheasents) this year? I know there are several guys who chase them on their free time in here, but i havnt seen many posts. The season started off a bust for me here in Iowa due to all the standing corn still around. The corn has come out in the last two weeks and the bird hunting has gone up. Im hunting three days a week and getting 5-6 flushes per outing, hunting an hour or two at a time. I havnt put many birds in the vest due to terrible shooting but the numbers are out there.
What about the rest of you?

Not a very good hatch in eastern WA. this year. There are birds but not high numbers. I've only been out once and missed two birds and came home empty handed. There arent enough to chase unless the snow flies, we'll see.

    Yo Aaron,

Been out once on my buddy's land. We know they're there, but no flushes. I was alone with no dog, so my chances were real low. I was actually giving the doves a go, and just decided to walk his field in hopes of getting lucky.

I have not seen or heard any birds on my land this year so far.

You in Iowa for good now? What happened to Arizona?

When you gonna be in town for gun season (Ohio)?

I will be out chasing them over the Holiday weekend again in Nebraska. We have had a few over there, but alot more hens than roosters. Thankfully we can shoot quail at the same time, so I have gotten a few of them too

We've been hitting them pretty good in western Iowa. I've been seeing lots of birds after the corn was harvested. I've been in South Dakota 7 days and my group managed 50 roosters hunting 6 of 7 days on public ground. Going out today and all weekend to get some more. Picture is of our 5 person limit my first trip up to SD this year.

My number is the same, the 501 number.

I have one more personal day if you want to hook up for a day of gun hunting. I'm not the biggest gun hunter, but I'm having a blast with this new Encore of mine.

I have taken a few birds here and there in between school and work. Southwestern MN has had a large increase in birds so they have been good days out in the field!

Been having a fairly good season as compared to last year. We hunt on all public land, and the population has been on the upswing with some mild winters. However, they have become very visible with the early snows, gonna go out this weekend and whack a few that have been giving me fits while driving to work. Saw them in the parking lot where I park to hunt today during lunch! Is it Sunday yet? Good luck...Eric

Man!! That tailgate full of birds makes me miss the good old days.

I used to live and die to hunt roosters when I had my Britt. We killed a pile of birds for a few years. I haven't been on a pheasant hunt for a loooong time. Wish I had the time to train another............
