What do you use to kill bugs?

I'm going out with a friend rabbit huting and have never shot one. I have a 12ga. singl, & pump. and a 22lr with a red dot scope. I can hit a coke can at 50yards with the 22, but they don't run from me either.

If using the shotgun, what size shot, and do you use steel shot for rabbit?

As for steel or not, depends on state laws, if ya dont have to i wouldnt. Id shoot 7 1/2 out of the shotgun. if ya have good eyes, and can see them in cover, or if ya can wislte stop them Id use the 22lr. It will do the least damage to the meat, shotguns tend to rip um up a bit. That said Ive never shot them with anything other than a scatter gun.

Bunnies aren't the most hardy of critters. Personally, I use a light 7 1/2 or 8 load for them. Use steel if you have to, like on some public grounds, but other than that, lead probably works and patterns better.
