Default Alright - who's organizing the annual squirrel hunting competition?

Or... is there going to be one? Seaon opens up here in Michigan in a month and I'm planning on getting my kids out a LOT more this season.

Well, I'm hoping to enter some tails this year if I can find a good grove to hunt in. Pro'ly use my Win. 20 ga. pump.

Do we have to have someone organize/manage it or could we all just setup a running post and upload our pictures and tally our scores as it goes?
I never have actually entered the ones in the past (I normally squirrel hunt very little until after our bow season goes out, so I didn't really want to drag a team down!), but I'd like to enter if we have one.

I guess the rules are to get a picture of the squirrels w/ the data in the picture (write the date and info on a paper in the pic?) and then get a picture of the complete tail on a tape measure?
    Am I forgetting anything?

As for teams, should everyone who wants in post in this thread...deadline September 20th? Then we'll just put all the names in a hat and draw?
I *think* we could all work together and make this happen.

I just re-read the original post and I see that your season opens September 16th?

When is the earliest squirrel season? I figure we'd want to get the teams and all set before season starts.

Well, for most of Texas there is no closed season. You can hunt them year 'round.

Yeah MO has a pretty long season too....
Opens in May sometime and close in Feb.

Tominator usually runs the contest. I am sure he will be in before to long. He is sick right now. So we will just need to be patient.

I see. Well, let's all just give it a few weeks and see what develops. Sounds good folks.

Chris typically does. However, that being said....

If he doesnt step up or want to do it this year ill head it up as long as you all dont mind me being a part of it.

BTW, a big Appology to Ranger Clay for last years comp. Work got in the way and I wasnt nearly as good of a team member as I should have been.

Anyway. As soon as you read this Chris let me know if you want to head this thing up this year or if you want to hand it over.

It's all yours Jeramie. Let me know if you want the signup thread pinned or whatever.

Personally I don't hunt the tree rat, and in the past the contest has been disappointing. More than half the people that signup never even hunt.
