Default Anyone like to hunt rabbits w/ archery?

Just wondering...shot one today at twenty yards with my 43# Fred Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve; I can hardly place a shaft in the vitals on a bedded doe target at twenty yards let alone a bunny! It was my first bow kill and some of the most fun I have ever had!

Shot a grand total of 2 with the bow, and 3 squirrels.

Deer season gets in the way and the deer spots I hunt do not have much rabbits.

But New Jersey might open rabbit hunting in September 2009 during the early archery season. That sounds like fun.

No doubt! Well done!! I want to start but need to get some more practice in. What broadhead were you using? I've looked at several small game broadheads and haven't decided.

Congrats on the bunny! I'm with ya. A bunny was my first ( and only so far) bow kill.

I was just using a field tip, but I know of guys who use broadheads or specially designed small game heads from Judo or G5.

    Nice shooting.
Our rabbit season does not even open until late November.

I would be afraid of tearing it up too much with a broadhead, I love fried rabbit and would hate to waste one.

I have never shot a judo point.

I have lost track of how many rabbits and small game i have shot with my bow. When I get bored from sittin all day in a deerstand anything as long as its in season is fair game. Rabbit is some good eatin. I will play a lil string music on a squirrel or 2 as well. I have a buddy that cant get enough squirrel.

I have killed a couple rabbits and a lot of squirrell's with my bow...good way to get practice in the field and bring home some good table fair while you're at it.

    Default bunnies with bows

I just got my first hunting license and shot my first bunny today. It was a great shot, dead on in the neck. The sound of the arrow hitting was amazing. The little guy took off and shook the arrow out, it must have not gone in very deep.

I was using field points, 125 grain. I'll be picking up some broadheads ASAP.

It was a real thrill, I'll never forget it!
