Nice shooting. I haven't gotten out yet all the crops are still up at my place. Gotta wait for those to go downmay hit up a hay field we have. but until then i'll go after the squrriels

congrats on the doves , Indiana had their opening day 9-1 , i scouted the last few months , weeks , days , seen at least 50 , come opening day , their were 5 other huntin parties , there , and maybe 10 were shot total . and we got there at sunrise. i myself never got a shot off , congrats again on the fine shootin .

The spot we hunted wasn't even a picked field. He had an overgrown field and he bush hogged it down. Out in the middle of the field was a gravel lane and the doves were dive bombing the gravel lane. We could have shot another 3 limits if allowed. They were everywhere. While we were hunting the farmer was cutting a corn field for silage about 1/2 mile away. We'll be in there shortly![]()
Doves, and most all birds for that matter, need grit to help grind seed they have in their crop. They put the grit in their gizzards which is where the seed is ground up. Sounds like you guys found the preferred grit place for the doves.![]()

I had a good opener too. Five of us hit a small sunflower field about 3:45, and by 4:45 I was finished. It took me 20 shots to get my 12 bird limit. Better than my usual 1 for 3 average.![]()

awesome! my opener was horrible.. i guess they broke the tracter and couldnt mow the rest of the field and there wasnt hardly any doves in sight, i ended up with 4 birds..
Congrats on a great day right there.
I want to get out and do some dove hunting might try to this weekend.
