    Default Shot for Pheasant

I have a crapload of 2 3/4" #8's.....I thought they might be a little small for pheasant....what do you think? Might be planning a pheasant hunt pretty soon!!!

Ryan, if you're going pheasant hunting, you better go pretty quick, it ends here end of the month. #8's are to small, need something in a high brass 4-6, guess it all depends on how far out they flush.

I think 8's are to small even over a dog. I personally would go with 6's or even 5's. Good luck !!

I agree that #8 shot is a little small for pheasants. I use #7.5 and #6 for pheasants. Your ammo is great for dove and quail, but pheasants are a little too big.

Close in shots over dogs on pen birds would be marginally Ok I think Ryan.

Wild, far ranging, running birds in December in Ohio, no way.

#8 would work, but i would use 6 or 7 1/2 for pheasents. we dont have them up here, but we have partridge (ruffed grouse) and they are about the same sized bird as a pheasent, i shoot a remington 870 wingmaster, 26 inch barrel, full choke, and #6 shot. or for the remington 1100 20ga, 28" barrel, mod choke, i use #6 shot as well.
