    Default arrow32's 2008 hunting journal

Well bow season started last saturday with no luck. Saw a lot of deer and a lot of movement tho. No real nice bucks just a little 3 and 4 point. Did however see a piebald(sp?) and 11 deer all together. Every single one of those deer were up the hill a little to far from me. I had figured tho before hunting this stand that it would be a better evening stand anyway so I'm not to worried about it I'll be hunting it friday night to find out.

Did see a nice red fox and a couple coons while sitting there and also saw a ton of squirrels to keep me busy through the slow parts of the day. I think theres alot of potintal in the farm this year like there is every year have got some pics of some deer out there this year and have saw some that are pretty decent.

So here we go with another year of hunting and I'm hoping to score on another big one.

Went out hunting last night 10/24 it started out with me pulling up to the top of the hill and I see 3 doe down in the field. I get my bow and everything ready and slip over the side and skirt the edge of the woods and get sat up by a tree. I watch them for about 45 minutes just feeding there way in and out to me. I could have shot 2 of them but they were yearlings very small so I passed it up. Finally I had 5 doe infront of me and just waiting to get a shot at one of the older ones.

1 starts to feed acrossed in front on me and I'm sitting there none of them are looking at me and I'm drawing my bow almost at full draw and bang one had came in behind me I couldn't see and it ran further into the field and so didn't the 5 infront of me. That ground hunting is a pain. She was a nice doe think she was about 2.5 years old from my judging.

After that the rain set in it had been just drizzling on and off but not anymore we are talking monsoon rains it was horrible. I tuffed it out and made it but only saw a couple more deer and they were all skirting the edge of the field. Never even came close enough for a possible shot. Guess thats how it goes. Wouldn't be hunting if you got everyone you tried to shoot at.

Saturday November 1. Ended up sitting in the stand all day Proudowner was in and my gosh it was a slow day. Saw about 7 deer all together the warm up we got the day before just about killed the hunting. I got him on deer tho and that was my goal for the hunt right there.

I do think I've patterend out a nice buck tho he comes through the same area around the same time. So this week I'm hoping to be able to put the smack down on ol'mack daddy. Just need a little bit of goo weather to help me out and it looks like towards the end of the week its going to happen.

Been hunting hard here lately and not updating my journal here so I thought I might.

Today went out and it was horrible conditions this morning it was raining on and off and cold. Saw good deer movement tho saw 3 bucks and some doe. Never got a shot at a buck but did have some shots at yearling doe and passed. Never a shot a a mature one.

Then this evening we went to one of my dads buddy's farm to hunt. Dang it was crazy 20+mph winds kept the tree rockin. You prayed for the wind to stop blowing for a little while.LOL Needless to say I stuck it out all night they went in early due to the conditions. But 30 minutes before dark I did see some doe coming out to the food plot or towards it but with the wind they just stayed down in the woods out of all the wind and rain. To bad I really wanted to play a little string music

Good day tho. Will be looking forward to getting out this week some more.
