    Default muggs\' outdoor journal

Well I got a late start on my scouting this year. Working two jobs has really cut into my time. I posted my trail cam, last Thursday and I'm going to pick it up Sunday.

I walked the edge of a thicket that lies in a creek bottom, where I took a nice ten point two seasons ago. Since then I haven't seen alot of buck sign in the area, but when I was out I saw several large tracks. Hope to catch the big boy that made those tracks on my cam.

The main farm that I hunt has corn planted this year. Which is making scouting alot more difficult. I've been watching the pond at dusk, have seen alot of does and some small bucks, no bucks that I would shoot.

I'm cutting shooting lanes tonight and checking up with a possible new farm to hunt. Also, I'm picking up my camera and getting the pics developed.

My leg work payed off and I have two new spots to hunt. As of a week ago a nice eight point shooter and a smaller six point are consistently using the same field at dusk.

I need to get in at cut shooting lanes. Due to bedding areas within the area, I'm only going to hunt this spot at night. Cutting shooting lanes this Thursday. Season opens Oct. 2nd.

Still need to follow up on Geauga farm and shoot as much as possible.

    Went out last night 10/13.

spooked 3 does out of the field on my way in. 4pm. No action after that. A cold front moved in and I thought they would be active. Still to many leaves on the trees to see deep inot cover.

With school and work, it's been hard to get out. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and doing a morning & evening hunt. I have a good morning spot idea, hopefully I'll be able to catch that 8 pointer moving early. I'm going to set up off a bedding area I think the he's using. It seems like he's either moving after dark or he spooked out of the area after I missed him. Hopefully I'll catch him on his way to bed down.

When out 10/21 morning and evening.

Morning I saw a little six chasing two doe. Found my first scrape, and postioned in the area. The wind must be perfect in order to get in there, and it's dangerously close to a bedding area. I have to be patient.

In the evening I check out the old stand by spot. It was torn up with rubs, big rubs. Wind was perfect didn't see a **** thing. When leaving 5 does in the beans back in the corner. I'm sitting there Sunday night. Still need to get on the board.

I got two doe so far from the same tree this season, still need to get a buck but the weather has made that nearly impossible lately.

    Still have a month.
