Howdy folks. My real name is Dan. I'm hoping to get out with my bow sometime around the last week of September.

I think Saskman's remark in another post of us being "poor marksmen" is directed at me because he knows I missed a huge non-typical from 30 yards last year with my muzzleloader. Everyone misses once in a while - unfortunately CLB was there to witness my miss.

I foolishly asked my wife what she thought a good name would be for a team of hunters. She suggested that if my teammates were anything like me during hunting season we should be called "5 Wits", her reasoning being that there are 10 halfwits on the team.

I missed 7 bucks in the 2 years that I bowhunted, but haven't missed since. Only pulled the trigger on one buck with my muzzleloader at 80 yds and dumped him where he stood. I'm going on the most planned out hunt of my life this fall and am very excited. Let's hear how everyone else feels about their chances this year.....................

Dan, never even thought of the miss you told me about last year, was just trying to have a little bit of fun and was making up silly little things without even considering who was on the teams, maybe he'll be bigger this year and you'll get him, good luck. A little competition is always fun.

He ain't getting much bigger lately. A local 15-year-old hunter managed to get him during the rifle season last year. I think he netted 182 5/8. I got a nice non-typical during the rifle season so everything turned out just peachy in the end.

    I like "Team Buck Sweat".

I took my bow out for the first time on Saturday. I stalked within 50 yards of a decent bedded mule deer buck, but a smaller buck that I hadn't seen that was with him picked me off. I also got within 8 yards of a bedded 4X4 whitetail buck later in the day. The only problem was that I didn't know I was with 8 yards of him until he exploded out of the chest-high durum and startled the living snot out of me.

team butt sweat????......... oh, I read it wrong, "buck sweat" sounds good to me. I'm heading out in one week. With all the horse riding we'll be doing, team butt sweat might be fitting. Headed to an awesome area, the guy who is taking us shot a 35 inch wide 8x9 up there last year and a 34 INCH 5X5 the year before.
    good luck to all
    Andy
