    Default Arggh!!! I missed!!!!

I took my buddy to a stand for morning turkey this weekend. Low and behold! A beautiful pair of yotes comin' our way. I didn't even need to squeal! I told my friend, (never shot a yote), to take the lead dog when it got within 75 yards. The wind was changing and the yotes path was about to cross it!

My buddy aimed but did not fire? I looked at him and gave him a little nudge. The yote sat and scratched a flee at 60 yards...my buddy didn't shoot and I gave him another nudge. The yote walked up to a large oak, sniffed it and gave my buddy a full broadside at about 55 yards.

Needless to say, I didn't nudge this time...I shot...and....missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot that I had my zero set at 3" high at 100 yards. I shot right over his back!!! It was still pretty funny watching the pair go from 0 to 100 MPH in a nanosecond, though! They just started running, first one way then the other at a full sprint.

My question is, why do you have you rifle set 3" high at 100 yards. What caliber are you shooting.

Most shots at coyotes are going to be 200 to 25 yards. 1" high should be enough.

I had it set for some longer range shooting due to terrain. I'm shooting a .222. And the actual elevation is 2 3/8ths.
