    Default \'yote hunting ?

I recently got permission to hunt new land, I've been seeing yote tracks all over the place. I've never tried it but I think it would be alot of fun.

I guess I'd try to use my shotgun (I don't own a rifle, not much need for one in Ohio), should I use big shot or a slug. Any other tips would be appreciated.

    Eric

I like #4 but 00 Buck works great too. If your a little unsure of your shot placement, go with the 4's. I can easily keep all of the 00's in a 30" group at 50 yards and it shouldn't be hard for anyone else if I can do it.

Recently, I've switched to a 3 1/2" Magnum shells and heavy shot. The 3 1/2" Mags really reach out an touch them and the Remington Heavy Shot is incredible stuff. I dropped a yote at 60-65 yards last week with this product. The only problem with the 3.5 mags is the recoil...it's stout. As a matter of fact, the same day I shot the aforementioned yote, I dropped a turkey from the prone position.

I never shot my Mossberg 3.5 from the prone until this moment. I took a great cheek to stock weld and had my right thumb curled over the top of the wrist like I normally do while sitting or standing. I took the shot and saw stars. My right thumb impacted my nose so hard that my nose broke! It's still black an blue today! Needless to say, my thumb lays along the wrist and not over the top anymore!

I think ya got me beat by a mile! I use the shotgun and a .222 remington. My predator partner shoots a 220 Swift I built for him. I'm good out to about 150 yards. My partner hasn't gone out past 225 yards yet. He's still getting used to the rifle. It's a monster weighing in at 20 Lbs.
