great christmas!

I got off work early on christmas eve[about 1] I got my white on and calls out and headed out to hunt on the way to the farm for supper, [left abotu 2 after dinner] I headed 3 miles from town stopped in a old farmyard with soughs behind, set up not 100 yards from the truck,I was calling and no luck after abotu 20 minutes started to walk back to the truck,as i went around the corner of the trees heard grass rusling in the slough 75 yards off and seen a coyote pouncing through the tall weeds, I got down on the shootign sticks and my bloody howler in my upper pocket got tangled in my gun strap that was over my shoulder, I finally got the bead on him at abotu 250 yards and one shot rolled him through the back of the head.I went about 5 more miles and stopped at a railway track with s tall bridge over a reving, I started to call and within 30 seconds had 2 coming down the draw right towards me, they entered a brush draw and dissapeared, next time i seen them they were abotu 400 yards downwind of me, no shot chances,they had to run a water run below me abotu 75 yards to get downwind, neverseen them, next spot I called was a row of trees I set up and called and wihtin 3 minutes had one on the dead run, I think he wanted to eat me, lol, got him at 40 yards at the dead run still right at me lol, as I was leaving seen a fox coming in from downwind, he was on the full run and I got ready for him to crest a hill but just as he did he winded me and turned on a dime, I called 2 more and had one wind me, I got back to the farm at 5 and can hunt till 5,30 so i decided to park in the yard and walk to the draws abotu 400 yards to the east, I got to the draw and seen a coyote about 1000 yards off walking the side of the draw, all i did was give 3 barks and sat back, he turned and trotted slowly right in to 100 yard swere he sat to see what was going on, was a big mistake for him! was a great day, hunted 4 hours and had coyotes respond in 5 of 6 stands never that good, so i thought! Thsi mornign got up at abotu 8 opened presents and then ahd 1/2 hour to take a trip out to were I left my deer scraps to see if any coyotes in the draw, no luck, went to my mothers and did the christmas thing and had to head to a town abotu 20 miles away to see my grandparents so I brought the gun and decided to call on the way up, I had no white on just bluejeans and camo jacket so i sat in trees, or on rockpiles and all my stands were close to the truck couse I was in a hurry to do a bit of visiting, ended up with 4 more coyotes in 2 hours and missed 2 more that i shoudl not of, had 2 doubles that were within 100 yards when i shot the first one and the second would not of been farther than 200 but just plain missed then! 4 stands 4 coyotes today and should of been 6 if I was shootign good!!still not complaing though!! The shootign is fun but had to go skin 4 after eating way to much turkey for supper, The skinning does not compare to the nap I usually have after turkey lol!!
I have 2 more whole days now to hunt so hopefully I can be as lucky, Not to many days in all the years of coyote huntign have been as good as these last 2 partial days!! All I can do is hope!!

went out all day today called 11 stands and never seen a coyote lol!! Figures!! Was nicer today and cooler also, only downfall was cloudy with soem snow falling off and on, the must of new it was coming the past 2 days, Hopefully tomorrow they are really hungry again!!

Yeah! I was going to go out but went dove hunting instead. My son slayed 'em while I only got two. Shot a couple of boxes of #8's, though.

Today went out called all day prob 20 spots ended up with 4 [actually 5 but one was not keepable, had very bad mange, shot him as he sat in a slough bottom i was going to call, I decided to give a few squeeks and he sat there looking up, had to shoot him from abotu 325 yards, only shot I was going to get]and missed a fox that came in on the run and winded me at abotu 200, called 2 spots and had coyotes runnign the other way from 3/4 mile off and one more spot had 3 spot me walking to my stand! Pretty good few days off would of even been better if yesterday was at all sucessful!

Hey Brett I got a Primos Rabbit Squeeler and the Mini-Mag Howler-do you use them together or just separate. Ty and I set up about 300 yards apart and I squeeled and he howled never got a 'yote but had big fun. I was sittingin under a big spruce with my whire cover on and I had 5or 6 magpies and a couple ravens right above me-the snow they were knocking off was landing on my gun lol. Might have to take out the old 870 and roll some 'pies.
