Waders

OK so I want too buy a pair of waders for hunting where I hunt is a creek runs through it and right now there is over a foot of running water in it ... What is a good brand of waders too buy and how do I go about getting the right size of waders ...does it go by my boot size how does it work ... do i just want hip waders or the ones that look like bibs... is there ones that are more comfortable then others warmer then others I kinda want the complete package dry, comfortable, and warm is this even possible with waders....

i have cabels waders. theyare 1000 grams of thinsulate and are very comfotable and warm to say the least. i would get the bib type if i were you b/c i don't think that hip waders would be all that warm. i know that cabelas comes in regular or stout depending on your size and boot size. lacrosse and hodgeman waders are some really good waders from what i hear but every pair that i have seen in mags. are very pricey. just may 2 cents

I'm on my second pair of Cabela's waders. My first pair were the 5mm neoprene ones. They were great, but after 6 or 7 years, they needed replaced. (I'm tough on them) This time I got the Cabela's 5mm neoprene w/ the cordura outside and 1600 gr boots. Man are these things nice.

I have a buddy that has Lacross and another that has Hodgman. Both love them.

I don't think you could go wrong with the major names or even the Cabela's or Bass Pro brands.

I like the Cordura (some call it Armorflex) on the outside over the neoprene. It resists damage much better than the plain neoprene exterior.

I'll echo everyone else. But the question to ask first is how much time are you spending in the creek? If you're just crossing it, get a pair of hip waders and carry your hunting boots. Switch at the creek, and then change back once you're across.

If you are hunting in the creek and expect to be retrieving birds out of the water, then go with the chest waders (or the "bib kind"). Or, some companies are now making a waist length wading boot that may be all the boot you need for your situation.

Neoprene are the warmest and it varies with the amount of insulation you get in the boots feet. However, at the end of the day, when you take them off, you'll discover that you've "sweated like a pig" in them, and your pants will be damp. When you go to put them on in the morning, if you haven't hung your boots indoors and upside down to dry, the waders will be clammy and damp.

The other must have is a pair of ankle gators. A neoprene strap with velcro to help keep your pant legs down and your socks up. There's nothing worse than standing all day in a pair of chest waders with your socks slowly creeping off your feet.
