I have 2 favorites. Both are very economy priced. A haydels goose honker and a faulks are both good calls that are under 15 bucks. My faulks call has one downside. It is wood, but the haydel goose call I am in love with. Another call worth getting is a Knight and Hale double cluck plus. It is worth its weight in gold.

The best duck call for a beginner would be something like a Primos Yo Sista or PHAT lady(poly). They have the full range of a duck call and are priced in and around 20 bucks US. These calls will teach you to call properly as they demand proper technique and will teach you quickly. These are single reed calls.

Also, any haydel double reed is the ulitmate in twin reeds. However, these are harder to use and take more air pressure.
