Default question about doe calls...help!!!

I need to know when to use doe-in-estrus calls. Do you have to know there is a buck nearby first or can you actually call one in with it? Also...can you scare other does away when you use it? I have had no luck with it so far. Right now in Florida we are full swing into the rut. I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on this please. Thanks.

In Maine we have used the doe in heat "can" with great success. My fiance called in a buck and a couple does (at different times) with it. We have been using it during the rut, but may be different down where you are. Good luck!

Thanks. I am not sure if it's different down here but I do know that I must not be doing something right. I used a grunt after an 8 point and some does came in but they were completely oblivious to me. They had "other" things on their mind! I've got about 3 more weeks left in this season to try it again.

I kinda thought that it might scare the does away too. I think that I might just do what I have been doing and scrap the doe call. I haven't used any scent lures or rattles or anything. I have let the corn bring them in and have taken an 8 ptr and a 4 ptr in one week. Wish we had the giants like ya'll do in Texas!

Yeah, I heard some good ones about hunting in Texas. Is it true they sell bags of corn at McDonalds?
Some guy told me that and I wondered if he was just pulling my leg.

What have you killed this year? And almost everyone types "lol" on their messages. What does that mean? Sorry, but I am fairly new at this.

Well, last year I got a 5 point, an 8 pt and a 9 pt.
We only get one week to shoot does with rifles in Florida. And it seems like they know when that week rolls around because they are hiding somewhere. ( In my neck of the woods anyway) I would love to come hunting over there. Do you know how much a license would cost me?
