Must Have Duck Hunting Equipment: The Floating Table

As part three of our series, we’re reviewing equipment that is invaluable to waterfowlers. Today’s segment lists a piece of equipment that I couldn’t be without, yet none are commercially available. Coined “the floating table,” it’s, quite simply, a piece of foam. But not just any foam – this is the super-dense material used to make “pool noodles.” I purchased a sheet at a local foam supply outlet, and cut it to size.

In a few short years, the floating table has become my security blanket, of sorts, as I wouldn’t be caught hunting without one. The foam is so buoyant it easily floats a shotgun when hunting flooded corn, it’s a great insulator for the dog to lie on, it makes a waterproof seat – you name it, the floating table can do it. You’ll never realize what you’ve been missing, especially if you hunt in deep water away from your boat, until you own your own floating table.
